Kiyomizu-dera

这座被列为联合国教科文组织世界遗产的木造寺院,由巨大的榉木立柱撑起一座悬空于山坡之上的舞台,整座建筑未用一根铁钉——无论是秋日红叶还是春日樱花时节,都是京都最经典的天际线景观之一。寺名意为“清水”,取自本堂下方的音羽瀑布。

Open roughly 6:00–18:00 daily (hours extend for seasonal night illuminations); admission is around ¥500, cash preferred. It's a steep uphill approach from the Higashiyama lanes, so budget extra time and wear comfortable shoes. Go early in the morning to beat both the crowds and the tour buses; this is one of Kyoto's busiest sights.
